The fiber content of the fabric often times dictates the density of the color. When dyeing cottons you will find that the color is absorbed quickly into the fabric and has to be watched very closely. Most of the dyeing I do is doe suede and polyester knits such as ponte and robe velour.
Since I choose to use doe suede more than any other fabric, I know the most about dyeing that fabric.
This section of the Cloth Doll Classroom will be updated as my experiments continue...and they always do. Right now you can find out how I dye my doll body fabric.
You will also learn how I dye mohair for those wonderful bright colors that I use on my other than conventional dolls.
And you know what! I have found that when my white or beige bras and panties become dingy, I can throw them in with the doll body fabric color and dye them too. I get matching underwear at half the price.
